Hello! I am Alice. I'm a British actress turned unique Bow Tie designer... because I love curious, creative details! At all stages of my life, I have used outfit details to express my unique personality, my beliefs, interests and as an invitation for conversation, for connection. I am a quiet extrovert, details speak for me when I can't find the words. I started wearing Ties and Suspenders as a teenager, coupled with my Cherry Red DM Boots I felt strong and proud, I felt myself. I learnt to knit as a consequence of spending so much time filming, which to an actor means lots of waiting... I have cast on and off some of my proudest pieces while in corsets, flares or faux blood stained t-shirts! My TV acting credits include; Ballot Monkeys, Jonathan Creek, Silent Witness, The Rotter's Club, Doctor Who, The Verdict, City of Vice, Outnumbered, Casualty, Doctors, Behind Closed Doors, Rough Crossings, Rose and Maloney, The Bill to name drop a few… I was knitting or learning to knit on all of these sets and more. I was soon knitting hats, socks and garments for private clients, teaching and taking commissions including for various British Knitwear Designers and labels, alongside acting. Nearly 10 years later, in 2013, I seized an opportunity to study Knitwear Design (at the infamous Knit One in Brighton) before relocating from London to Amsterdam where I set up Wool & Water and then Wool & Whiskers. My many knitting adventures created a passion for natural fibres, the knitted textile and combining the traditional craft with a modern aesthetic. I am an old soul who is inspired by both modern and classic forms of; music, film, fashion and art. All of these creative forms inspire me to create pieces anchored in heritage yet fresh in perspective. My designs are Gender Neutral and are for both a special occasion or to enhance your everyday style experience. Old school elegance with a knowing twist of humour...and yarn! Alongside knitting Bow Ties, Suspenders, Ties and Bow Tie Pins, I work as a Voice Over Actress. You can hear my voice on audio guides, adverts and phone directories to list a few of the lovely and varied jobs I get to do. I also teach knitting online so if you fancy learning to knit then here's the info and how to book your first lesson. TESTIMONIALS: "Learning how to knit with Alice was fun and insightful. She absolutely loves what she does, so her explanations and lessons make you fall in love with knitting from the very first lesson. I have knitted a scarf for my grandma straight after finishing the classes - what a pleasure it was to knit it myself and give it for her as a present!" "Alice is a dedicated, patient and fun teacher. After only three sessions, she managed us to give us the confidence to explore the knitting world by ourselves. We were complete beginners and we loved it!" "Learning how to knit with Alice was an absolute pleasure not to mention so rewarding: in just 3/4 classes you are equipped with the essential techniques to start knitting. Alice would adapt to everyone's level and personal objective with great patience and pedagogy. It was super fun and relax but at the same time, I was so happy to start making real stuffs! She also gave us so many tips like where to look online, where to buy great yarns etc. I absolutely recommend!"
